WEEK 10: STAGING/LIGHTING

In Week 10 for MEDA301, we experimented with the idea of creating a setting/stage for our project. Maya brought in a vintage pouf and Jane brought in an assortment of lampshades. We worked on manipulating the pots on different levels to see if it made the work more interesting. We played with putting torches in the lampshades to provide spotlights over the pots – this is an idea we really liked and will continue to pursue further next week.

After discussing with our tutors Mat and Jo, they suggested that they were unsure about how the lampshades had a relevance with the pots. This feedback allowed us to take the time to sit and think conceptually about the project and what we wanted it to become. We wanted to avoid cliche/overarching concepts of global matters and focus more on simplicity.
